The default headline wastes prime real estate
"Job Title at Company" is what LinkedIn fills in automatically, and it tells a recruiter nothing they can't get from your current role line. Your headline shows up everywhere — search results, comments, connection requests — so it's worth writing on purpose.
What to put there instead
Lead with what you do and who you do it for: the outcome you deliver, the kind of company or problem you specialise in, or the role you're targeting next.
Keep it scannable
Recruiters search LinkedIn by keyword. A headline built around the terms your target role actually uses will surface you in more of the searches that matter.
